In 2005, the breed was recognized by the International Cynological Organization FCI and registered under Lagotto Romagnollo.

Lagotto has amazing curls – curly hair that requires a groomer.
You have to take into account frequent visits to the dog groomer. That’s not all, you need to remember to comb your curly coat regularly.
The Lagotto hair should be trimmed every two months. However, combing should be done every few or several days.
The one critical element in grooming the Lagotto is to let the dog air-dry to allow the curls to form and harden, thereby protecting the coat from matting and tangling.
